Junior Graphic Designer

Company Description
Axia is a multidisciplinary creative agency founded by Creative Director Marika Adamopoulos and Design Director Natalie Krasik. We partner with consumer startups and growth-stage brands across wellness, beauty, food & beverage, and lifestyle, helping them build brand foundations that are designed to scale. Our capabilities range across brand strategy and identity, to full-scope design services, production, campaigns, paid and organic creative, and more.

We work directly with founders and marketing teams. No account managers, no handoffs. Our client list includes Equip Foods, California Naturals, SmartyPants Vitamins, Perelel Health, Aura House, and Innersense Beauty.
Role Description
Junior Graphic Designer
Freelance / Contract (project-based to start, with the goal of growing into a retainer as our work scales)
Hours: Flexible to begin, increasing with volume
Location: U.S. based. Ideally near Los Angeles or Orange County, open to remote.
Rate: Depends on experience.

We're looking for a talented, brand-obsessed junior designer to grow with Axia as our client work scales.

This is a freelance, project-based role with the goal of growing into a steady retainer relationship as our volume increases. You'll be collaborating directly with co-founders Marika & Natalie. Our goal is to find a designer who we can hand a brief to, and you can get it close to final and client-ready.
What You'll Do
- Take creative briefs and design them to near-final across brand identity, packaging, paid and organic social, and campaign work
- Adapt to each brand's distinct visual language. Every client is its own world, not a copy-paste template
- Help prep decks, case study materials, and presentation layouts
- Collaborate with us in team creative reviews. Your POV is welcome!
- Support light motion, animation, or video work when it's in your wheelhouse
What You'll Get
- Direct mentorship from two senior founders, a Creative Director and a Design Director, with almost two decades of combined experience building and marketing consumer brands.
- Exposure to real client work across brand strategy, creative direction, content, and production.
- A growing pipeline of design work. You'll start project-based and grow into a retainer as our volume builds.
- A front-row seat to how a venture-style agency is built from the ground up.
- Hands-on experience with AI-powered marketing and creative workflows.
- A portfolio of real work you actually contributed to, not fake case studies.
Qualifications
- You have 1 to 3 years of design experience, whether at an agency or in-house for a brand. Being new to freelancing is totally fine.
- You can take a brief and get it close to final with light direction. We do the last touch, not the teaching.
- You have strong fundamentals. Type, layout, hierarchy, and color, plus the judgment to know the difference between something that looks good and something that's strategically right for a brand.
- You have a portfolio that shows your range and your sensibility across consumer brand work.
- You're reliable, on time, and self-directed. Deadlines hold and meetings happen. We're accountable to our clients, so we need to be fully confident in everyone we bring in.
- You're obsessed with consumer brands. You follow founders, read about launches, and have opinions about why certain brands connect and others don't.
- You're already using AI tools in your workflow; Claude, ChatGPT, or similar. You're not afraid to experiment.
- You're proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and Canva.
- You're someone we'd feel great bringing onto a client call. We are looking for a great cultural fit to Axia as much as a talented designer.
Nice To Haves
- Motion graphics or animation skills
- Experience with email platforms (Mailchimp, Klaviyo, or similar)
- Basic video editing skills (CapCut, Premiere, or similar)
- Prior experience in wellness, beauty, food & beverage, or lifestyle
- A personal Instagram, TikTok, or portfolio that shows your creative sensibility
